Yarns Hub of China-Dalang

The sheep holds extraordinary significance for Dalang. One in every five woolen sweaters worldwide is produced in Dalang, which also boasts the largest concentration of advanced CNC knitting machines globally. Over half of China's textile yarn transactions occur in Dalang. Spanning just 97.5 square kilometers with a permanent population of 750,000, Dalang supports 25,000 woolen textile enterprises and generates an annual transaction volume of 72 billion yuan across its entire woolen textile industry chain.
Over the past four decades, Dalong has evolved from nothing to something, from small to large, from weak to strong, from scattered to clustered, and from processing production to independent innovation. As a pioneer in world-class woolen textile industry clusters, Dalong has become the global leader in woolen textiles.

Dalang Town is located in the south-central part of Dongguan City. Its existence can be traced back to the period spanning from the sixth year of the Xianhe era of the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the Southern Liang Dynasty. Situated in a hilly region, it has long focused on agricultural development and is renowned for its abundant lychee production.

Reform and opening-up swept through, ushering in the dawn of Dalang's woolen textile industry. In May 1979, Hong Kong Concord Weaving Co., Ltd. established Dalang's first woolen textile enterprise—Dalang Woolen Textile Factory No. 1—in Dajingtou Village, bringing over 100 looms and seven skilled technicians to Dalang.

After more than four decades of vigorous developing themselves, Dalang has established a comprehensive woolen textile ecosystem encompassing raw yarn, knitwear garments, textile machinery, e-commerce sales, and logistics transportation. It has emerged as China's largest and most integrated textile and apparel industrial cluster.

In Dalang, a sweater can be completed from design to mass production in as little as 2 to 3 days. In the design phase, Dalang has cultivated over 3,000 knitwear designers and technicians, producing hundreds of thousands of knitwear designs annually. For raw materials, Dalang hosts more than 2,500 yarn trading companies, with annual yarn sales exceeding 1 million tons and a transaction value surpassing 35 billion yuan. This accounts for roughly half of the industry's total market transactions, making it China's largest spot yarn trading market. In machinery, Dalang hosts the world's largest and most concentrated deployment of advanced CNC knitting machines, boasting over 150,000 computerized flat knitting machines. Over 80% of Dalang's knitwear enterprises have adopted smart equipment. Today, Dalang is home to 4,179 knitwear e-commerce companies.

Currently, Dalang hosts over 25,000 woolen textile enterprises, employing more than 200,000 workers. It boasts nearly 200 large-scale woolen textile manufacturers and 15,000 small-scale woolen textile enterprises. In 2022, the sector achieved a total output value exceeding 20 billion yuan, with the entire industrial chain generating annual sales of 72 billion yuan and producing 900 million sweaters annually.

Currently, Dalang holds two-thirds of China's specialty yarn patents. Over 60% of Dalang's yarn sales enterprises possess R&D capabilities, with those collaborating with spinning mills to develop yarns launching nearly 10,000 new yarn varieties annually.
